NATIVE  AMERICAN  FESTIVAL AND  BASKETMAKERS  MARKET

The Maine Indian Basket Makers Alliance, Abbe Museum and the College of the Atlantic invite you
to join us for our annual Native American Festival.  This world renowned "Indian Market" features
exquisite hand crafted Wabanaki baskets, carvings, jewelry, beadwork, and dolls as well as other
hand crafted items.  
You can experience Native American singing, dancing,
storytelling, demonstrations and food.

Annual Maine Indian Basketmakers Sale and
Demonstration

Hours: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

This event features Maliseet, Micmac, Passamaquoddy and Penobscot Basketmakers who sell
their hand-made, one of a kind, ash splint and sweet grass basketry. Work baskets, such as
creels, pack and potato baskets and fancy baskets ranging from strawberry and blueberry
shaped- baskets to curly bowls may be found along with quill jewelry, wood carvings and birchbark
work. Traditional foods served up by the Penobscot Nation Boys and Girls Club (hull corn soup, fry
bread, blueberry desserts),music, demonstrations of brown ash pounding and basket making as
